CASPER, Wyo. — Strong winds are being reported across much of the Cowboy State on Tuesday.
“Damage has been reported across Johnson, Park, and Big Horn Counties,” the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton said on Tuesday morning. “Exercise caution if traveling today, especially in high-profile vehicles.”
Wind gusts reached as high as 92 mph in Story, Wyoming at around 5:42 a.m. Tuesday. 82-mph gusts were recorded at the Buffalo Airport at 5:35 a.m. Sunlight Basin in Park County saw gusts reach 88 mph at 10:05 p.m. Monday. Strong winds are expected to continue throughout the day and could impact travel on many Wyoming roadways, including Interstate 25, I-80 and I-90. Partial closures prohibiting travel of light, high-profile vehicles are in effect on I-80, I-90 and other highways, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
