High winds returning to Wyoming with gusts up to 65 mph possible on I-25, I-80 Thursday and Friday


CASPER, Wyo. — High winds are expected to return to areas of Wyoming on Thursday and Friday after gusts reached as high as 92 mph on Tuesday.

Southwest winds of 35-45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph are possible from 5 p.m. Thursday to 2 p.m. Friday in the southeast part of the state, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne. The high winds could impact areas of both Interstate 25 and I-80.

“Strong cross winds are extremely dangerous to lightweight and high-profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers,” the NWS in Cheyenne said.
