Light snow continues in the western mountains Saturday, calmer breezes for Casper

South Hoback, Jackson Hole (NWS Riverton)

CASPER, Wyo. — It should be a good weekend for outdoor recreation as 8-12 inches of snow has fallen over the past 48 hours in the western Wyoming mountains, with higher amounts in the peaks. Those looking to hit the slopes or backcountry can check the National Weather Service’s snowfall recreation page for webcams and recent snowfall totals.

Light snow showers will continue through Saturday, ending by late afternoon before another “reinforcing shot” arrives in the evening, this time bringing light snow coverage to the Bighorns and northern Bighorn Basin, as well Sublette, Sweetwater, and Lincoln counties overnight.

48 hour snowfall analysis (NWS Riverton)
Additional Snowfall expected Saturday.

The rest of the central and western Wyoming region should remain dry and slightly cooler, with mild breezes in the Wind Corridor.

Casper should see partly sunny skies with a high near 43 on Saturday. Winds will be about 5 to 10 mph, increasing to 11 to 16 mph in the afternoon.
