Above-normal temps, 30- to 40-mph afternoon gusts forecast in Casper; chance of snow overnight Tuesday

CASPER, Wyo. — Above-normal temperatures and strong afternoon wind gusts are in store for Casper to start the week before the next winter system late Tuesday brings a chance of snow, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton.

Afternoon gusts at 30-40 mph will be a concern Sunday and Monday for the main Wind Corridor from South Pass across the Green Mountains into Natrona County.

These drier conditions bring elevated fire risk, the NWS noted. 

The next winter system creeps into Wyoming from Idaho Tuesday night, with temperatures from Tuesday to Wednesday dropping 15 to 20 degrees.

In Casper, there is a 20% chance of snow after 11 p.m. Tuesday, and a 30% before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Sunny, with a high near 45. Windy, with a southwest wind at 21 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 35. Windy, with a southwest wind at 24 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Monday:

Sunny, with a high near 52. Windy, with a south southwest wind at 23 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph.

Monday Night:

Mostly clear, with a low around 39. Windy, with a south southwest wind at 21 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.

Tuesday:

Mostly sunny, with a high near 51. Windy, with a southwest wind at 25 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph.

Tuesday Night:

A 20 percent chance of snow after 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Breezy, with a west southwest wind at 18 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Wednesday:

A 30 percent chance of snow before 11 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. Northwest wind at 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
