Casper under ‘red flag warning’ as windy, dry and unusually warm weather continues Tuesday

CASPER, Wyo. — Persistently gusty winds, dry conditions and unseasonably warm weather is keeping much of central and northern Wyoming under red flag warnings through Tuesday before some possible snow on Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, strong winds will elevate fire conditions to critical across the central areas of the state.

Wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible in Natrona County through 3 p.m. today, enhancing blow over risks for lightweight and high-profile vehicles.

Some snow is possible in Natrona County along with cooler temperatures on Wednesday, which will be followed by gusty winds and rising temperatures as the week progresses.

Today’s high in Casper is expected to reach 55 degrees, with a high of 34 degrees on Wednesday. Temperatures will climb back to the low-to-middle 50s by the weekend, with a high nearing 60 degrees by Sunday.
