CASPER, Wyo. — Portions of Interstate 80 along with multiple highways in Wyoming are seeing partial closures on Tuesday afternoon due to strong, gusting winds.
I-80 is closed to light, high-profile vehicles from Laramie to Elk Mountain as of 2:40 p.m., according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation. Wind gusts have been exceeding 50 mph along some of this stretch of I-80.
U.S. Highways 30 and 287 are closed to light, high-profile vehicles from Laramie to I-80 near Walcott Junction.
WYDOT also reports a partial closure of Wyoming Highway 28 near South Pass where winds are reaching gusts around 50 mph. WYO 28 is closed to light, high-profile vehicles from Farson to the intersection with U.S. 287/WYO 789.
Extreme blow over risk advisories are in effect on all the above highways as well as on Wyoming Highway 296 and U.S. Highway 212 near Cody.
High winds are expected to last until around 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
