CASPER, Wyo. — High wind warnings impacting both Interstate 80 and I-25 are in effect in Wyoming on Tuesday and will remain in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne.
West winds of 30-40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph are expected along I-80 in the Arlington and Elk Mountain areas between Laramie and Rawlins.
I-25 is expected to see 30- to 40-mph winds with gusts up to 60 mph between Chugwater and Wheatland. Such winds are expected in the central Laramie Range as well as in southwest Platte County.
“Strong crosswinds will be hazardous to lightweight and high-profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers,” the NWS in Cheyenne states. “People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.”
