Light and high-profile vehicles prohibited on many Wyo highways as high winds pummel state on Wednesday

CASPER, Wyo. — All of Interstate 25 is closed from Cheyenne to Buffalo for light and high profile vehicles as of 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, as is Interstate 80 from Elk Mountain to Laramie, according to WYDOT.

Wind gusts up to 70 mph are possible along parts of Natrona County, including along Wyoming Boulevard in Casper.

The extreme winds in central and southern Wyoming come ahead of a snowstorm that could drop up to 5 inches in Natrona County starting on Thursday.

Other highways partially closed to light and high-profile vehicles include US 30, US 87, US 287, and US 28, as well as Wyoming Boulevard (Outer Drive) in Casper.

Central Wyoming is under a high wind warning through this evening, according to the National Weather Service.
