Several inches of snow possible in Casper as storm moves in Thursday afternoon

CASPER, Wyo. — A winter storm could bring several inches of snow by Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton. The storm will affect central and western Wyoming, including Natrona County.

Snow is expected to start by 4 p.m. today with up to an inch of accumulation. Another five to six inches should fall overnight and into late Friday morning, the NWS said.

Blustery winds with gusts around 24 mph will move in by Friday, making for potentially difficult driving conditions. Wind chill factors overnight on Friday could dip to minus 11 degrees.

Today’s high in Casper is expected to reach 33 degrees, with an overnight low of 21 degrees. Friday’s high will be around 27 degrees, dipping to 11 degrees overnight.

Strong winds return by the weekend, with 50-mph gusts possible on Sunday.
