CASPER, Wyo. — Areas of Wyoming are seeing another day of strong winds with “extreme blowover risk” advisories in effect on multiple roadways on Tuesday morning, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT).
Outer Drive (Wyoming Highway 258) in the Casper area was experiencing wind gusts in excess of 60 mph at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to WYDOT sensors. Outer Drive is closed to light, high-profile vehicles from Mills to Evansville due to the gusting winds.
WYDOT has also issued partial closures along stretches of both Interstate 25 and I-80. I-25 is closed to light, high-profile vehicles from Douglas to Buffalo. I-80 is closed to light, high-profile vehicles from Laramie to Elk Mountain.
I-25 in the Casper area is seeing gusts of up to 70 mph recorded, according to WYDOT sensors.
Other highways are also seeing impacts from strong winds: U.S. Highway 20 has recorded 70-mph gusts between Casper and Douglas. A full list of travel advisories and highway closures is available from WYDOT.
