UPDATE: Interstate 80 and WY 258 between Laramie and Walcott Junction re-opened to all traffic at 12:14 p.m. Sunday

CASPER, Wyo. — West winds at 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph are rocking southeast Wyoming Sunday, with low visibilities due to blowing snow advised on Interstates 80 and 25, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

High winds have prompted the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) to close Interstate 25 between C Cheyenne and Wheatland to light, high-profile vehicles Sunday afternoon.

A high wind warning is in effect until 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening, with blowing snow advised on I-80 between Arlington and Elk Mountain until 11:00 p.m.

Intestate 25 between mile markers 47 and 71 will also be significantly impacted.

“Plan on slippery road conditions,” the NWS said. “Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.”
