After more negative windchills Thursday, Casper to get break from bitter cold with high near 47 degrees Friday

CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper area has seen some bitterly cold windchills and temperatures in recent days and more shivers are in store overnight Wednesday and into Thursday.

The Casper-Natrona County International Airport is at a chilly temperature of -6 degrees as of 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton. Temperatures in the area are expected to hover around -3 degrees heading into Wednesday night with windchill values as low as -20 degrees.

Temperatures in Casper could actually start to climb heading into early morning Thursday with the NWS in Riverton forecasting temperatures to rise to around 1 degree by 5 a.m. Thursday.

Thursday is expected to see warmer actual temperatures with a high forecast near 36 degrees but windchill values could be as low as -10 degrees, according to the NWS in Riverton.

Casper is expected to remain above freezing overnight Thursday with a low around 36 degrees. Winds overnight Thursday could gust as high as 40 mph.

Casper can expect a break from bitter cold temperatures on Friday with a high near 47 degrees. However, the Oil City is not as likely to get a break from the winds with gusts up to 50 mph possible on Friday, according to the NWS in Riverton.

Temperatures are expected to be cooler over the weekend compared with Friday, but the wind should also calm down somewhat. Saturday has a high forecast near 39 degrees in Casper with wind gusts up to 37 mph possible, according to the NWS in Riverton. Sunday is expected to be breezy with a high near 33 degrees.

Monday and Tuesday both have highs forecast near 40 degrees in Casper with breezy conditions expected.
