CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has reopened Interstate 25 from Cheyenne to Douglas following a winter weather–related closure for most of Wednesday to Thursday morning, clearing the way for travel across the route from Cheyenne to Casper.
A winter storm warning for most of southeastern Wyoming this week had wreaked havoc on travel across that region of the state, closing a large swath of I-25 along with the entirety of I-80.
However, roads remain slick despite the interstate’s reopening, with portions of the route — such as from Cheyenne to Wheatland — also dealing with blowing snow as part of a high wind warning impacting the region. Travelers should use precaution if driving through those areas.
WYDOT’s real-time road and travel information website will have further updates. A travel information map on the WYDOT website is also available with road conditions and updates.
