High wind impacts to I-80, I-25 in southeast Wyoming return Sunday evening

CASPER, Wyo. — After a lull Sunday morning and afternoon, high winds are returning to southeast Wyoming Sunday night with an “extreme blow-over risk to light, high-profile vehicles,” according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cheyenne.

The Central Laramie Range and Southwest Platte County (including Interstate 25 near Bordeaux) will be under a high wind warning from 8:00 p.m. Sunday to 5:00 p.m. Monday.

West winds at 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph are expected.

In the North Snowy Range Foothills, including I-80 near Arlington, 35 to 45 mph winds with gusts up to 70 mph are also expected until 5:00 p.m. Monday.

“There will be a high risk for vehicle blowovers, particularly along north-to-south–oriented roadways,” the NWS said.
