Casper to see February highs above 50 degrees; rain, snow possible Wednesday, Friday and Monday

CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper area is expected to see warmer temperatures than are typically seen in February persist through the week and into the beginning of the new week.

February generally brings highs in the upper 30s but Casper is expected to reach and exceed 50 degree highs three times over the next seven days, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton. Casper’s climate history shows average high temperatures in February of 37.8 degrees, based on data from 1991-2020.

Casper is expected to reach highs near 50 degrees on Wednesday and on Sunday, and could climb near 52 degrees on Monday, according to the NWS in Riverton. The record high temperature for February in Casper was set on February 21, 1982 when Casper reached 68 degrees. The record low of -32 degrees was set on February 17, 2006, according to the NWS in Riverton.

With highs expected to be above normal for this time of year each day through Monday, Casper could also see some February rain mixed with snow this week.

Tuesday is expected be sunny with a high near 46 degrees, according to the NWS in Riverton. Casper could also see windy conditions with wind gusts as high as 37 mph possible.

There is a chance of precipitation in the Casper area on Wednesday with snow possible before 3 p.m., switching over to a slight chance of rain and snow from 3-9 p.m., according to the NWS in Riverton. After 9 p.m., any precipitation is likely to come in the form of snow. The chance of precipitation in Casper on Wednesday and Wednesday night is 20%. Casper is expected to reach a high near 50 degrees on Wednesday, according to the NWS in Riverton. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph.

Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 48 degrees and wind gusts up to 34 mph possible.

A chance for precipitation returns to the Casper area on Friday, with the NWS in Riverton calling for a 20% chance of snow showers.

Friday and Saturday are expected to be the coolest days of the week, with highs forecast near 40 degrees. Temperatures are expected to climb again on Sunday with a high near 50 degrees expected, according to the NWS in Riverton.

Monday is expected to climb above 50 degrees with a high forecast near 52 degrees. There is also a slight chance of showers on Monday, according to the NWS in Riverton.
