Casper could see hail Wednesday night; more thunderstorms, 60 mph gusts possible Thursday

CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper area could see showers and thunderstorms overnight Wednesday and Thursday, with the possibility of small hail and strong winds, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton.

Showers and thunderstorms could begin after 5 p.m. Wednesday with a 30% chance of precipitation overnight in Casper and on Casper Mountain.

Strong winds are expected at lower elevations in Natrona County, the Green Mountains, the Rattlesnake Range, east Sweetwater County, Rock Springs and Green River from Thursday morning to Thursday afternoon. Wind gusts up to 60 mph will be possible, the NWS in Riverton forecasts.

More showers and thunderstorms are possible on Thursday afternoon, with a 20% chance of precipitation in Casper and on Casper Mountain.

Casper’s high is expected to reach near 55 degrees on Thursday, with a warming trend set to follow heading into the weekend. Friday’s high is expected to reach near 65 degrees, with a high near 68 degrees expected Saturday. Casper could reach near 77 degrees on Sunday with a high near 80 degrees possible on Monday, the NWS in Riverton forecasts.

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Tuesday, when the high is expected to reach near 76 degrees.
