CASPER, Wyo. — Interstate 25 has reopened from Cheyenne to Douglas to all traffic Tuesday evening after high winds closed the roadway shortly after noon, the Wyoming Department of Transportation said.

I-80 remains closed to light, high-profile vehicles from Elk Mountain to Laramie as of 8:30 p.m. The closure also applies to US 30/287 between Laramie and Walcott Junction.

“Peak gusts thus far ranged from 60 to 80 mph, mainly over the north and central Laramie Range,” the National Weather Service said, adding that strong winds could persist in the area overnight.
