CASPER, Wyo. — Toasty temperatures are kicking off the weekend in central and northern Wyoming as they edge closer to the 100-degree mark on Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, Casper’s high is expected to reach 96 degrees today, with a slightly cooler 93 degrees expected on Saturday. Other areas of the state will see high temperatures as well, with Sheridan expected to hit 99 degrees on Friday.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible after 1 p.m. in Casper, bringing periods of gusty winds and small hail.

Periods of unsettled weather are expected through the weekend, with gusty winds and thunderstorms at times.

Warm temperatures statewide could lead to high mountain snowmelt, said the NWS, bringing the chance of creeks and streams rapidly reaching high levels.
