Strong winds in store for Casper; chance of light Sunday night snowfall

NWS Cheyenne

CASPER, Wyo. — Casper residents are no strangers to strong winds, and the coming week is expected to offer plenty of windy days. According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, the weakest wind gusts in the coming week will still eclipse 20 mph.

Today, Casper-area residents will see a high temperature of 43 degrees and a low of 31. However, conditions will feel colder due to strong winds moving in from the southwest that could gust upwards of 45 mph, the NWS in Riverton reports.

On Sunday, a high of 40 during the day will give way to sub-freezing temperatures in the evening, when those in the Casper area have a 50% chance of seeing slight snowfall. The snow isn’t expected to yield much accumulation, however, and the NWS predicts less than a half-inch of total snowfall.

Sunday will also see moderately strong winds, with gusts of roughly 25 mph in the forecast.

On Monday, the Casper area will have wind gusts of 33 mph, and winds will remain around 20 mph through much of the rest of the week.
