CASPER, Wyo. — The mercury will be climbing into the low 40s today and reaching even further near the 50s on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in Riverton says today and Wednesday will be a “quieter period” in the forecast. Indeed, snow chances return Thursday through Friday, starkly contrasting with the early part of the week.
Today’s high of 41 degrees will be accompanied by mostly sunny skies. Winds will come from the southwest at 18–21 mph with gusts reaching 31 mph. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low near 23. Winds will continue at 13–18 mph with gusts reaching 28 mph.
Dry weather is expected to continue Wednesday as the high reaches 48 degrees. Winds will have calmed to 6–11 mph and pick up slightly to 9–15 mph for the overnight period. The forecast low is 34 degrees.
Thursday will start off sunny and breezy, but a 20% chance for snow creeps into the forecast by around 5 p.m. Winds will pick up substantially to 18–23 mph with gusts reaching 34 mph. Overnight snow chances rise to 70%.
Friday will see a 40% chance for snow, mainly before noon. The day will remain mostly cloudy as the high returns to about 41 degrees. Friday’s forecast low is 30 degrees.
