CASPER, Wyo. — Stiff winds will be followed by at least one very hot day this weekend in central Wyoming.

According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, winds as high as 41 mph are expected in the Casper area today. Highs around 80 degrees are likely today and Saturday.

Friday and Saturday will be breezy but not as windy, with gusts of up to 23 mph.

Sunday is expected to be hot and blustery. A high of 96 degrees is expected in Casper, and the high could reach 100 degrees in other areas of central Wyoming. Wind gusts near 30 mph are likely. Fire conditions are expected to be high this weekend due to dry, windy and hot conditions, they said.

Overall, the month of June has been abnormally dry in much of Wyoming, the NWS in Riverton said, and conditions aren’t expected to change in the coming months.

Monday and Tuesday will likely be cooler in the Casper, with highs in the upper 80s.
