The Natrona County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a potential scam that has recently been reported in the area.
According to a statement from the Sheriff’s Department, local residents have reported receiving calls from anonymous individuals, claiming to be with the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office. The caller informs the potential victim that they have missed jury duty ands a fine must be paid, or they will be arrested. T
he anonymous caller instructs the victim to buy a Green-Dot prepaid credit card, with a specified amount on it, and then requires they send the information for the card to a specific phone number.
Witnesses report that the anonymous caller then warns the potential victim not to call the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office or they will be arrested for the warrant.
