Man allegedly found with methamphetamine during probation check

A Capser man was arrested Monday night after failing to report to his probation officer.

According to a Casper Police affidavit, Donavan James, 23, was on probation for possession of methamphetamine. Police were called to his home by his probation officer after he failed to check in.

When officers searched the bedroom, they located a glass methamphetamine pipe on the nightstand. It tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine, according to the report.

Also found were two empty bags with marijuana residue in the closet.

Searching the garage, officers found multiple pipes often used for smoking methamphetamine and marijuana. They also found a medicine bottle with “unidentifiable crystalline rocks inside,” said the report. The residue tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.

According to the report, officers obtained a criminal history for Donavan James that showed charges of “possession of a controlled substance 10/21/16 and possession for a controlled substance 3/11/18. Neither case had disposition but officers located the following sentences for probation coinciding with the above charges.”

The report goes on, “Probation for possession of methamphetamine and possession of prescription pills ending 6/28/18. Supervised probation for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine and marijuana) ending 11/18/16. Probation for possession of controlled substance ending 6/18/13.”

Officers arrested Donavan James for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.
