Police identified the van as having been reported stolen, and Robinson was taken into custody.
Robinson was searched and was reportedly in possession of a used syringe and a pipe with suspected marijuana residue. The syringe was believed to have methamphetamine residue inside.
An affidavit filed in the case described Robinson as being “evasive” during initial police questioning. During the early stages of questioning, Robinson alleged that he had slept in a family member’s truck, and was later picked up by an unknown individual in the van.
Later, however, police say that Robinson admitted that he found the van at an apartment complex near the 2000 block of Preserve Circle.
Robinson claimed that the keys were found in the van, and that he had taken the vehicle to drive it around town, and eventually sell it.
Police say that Robinson claimed that he was going to use the money from the sale of the van, to buy drugs.
The suspect also reportedly told officers that he had stolen a white Chevrolet pickup from the east side of Casper, approximately three days before he was taken into custody.
The affidavit in the case says that that Robinson claimed that his intent with the pickup was the same as with the van.
He further claimed that during the morning of May 8, he drove the pickup to the apartment complex on Preserve Circle, and pulled the truck into an open garage, hitting the back wall with the front end of the truck and leaving debris in the garage.
Robinson then claimed that he too a passport and checkbook from the pickup truck.
The truck was later found and recovered by police.
The affidavit goes on to say that Robinson claimed that he attempted to steal a Camero that he misidentified as a Corvette to officers. The suspect claimed to have entered the vehicle, smoked a cigarette, and dropped a bag of unused syringes inside. Robinson then told officers that he took a cell phone and an iPad from the vehicle.
Robinson had also claimed to have entered a vehicle that he had found in an open garage near the intersection of 13th and Lincoln streets, in Casper. It was reported that the suspect removed a necklace and and identification from the vehicle.
The suspect was booked into the Natrona County Detention Center without further reported incident.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Natrona County District Attorney’s Office.
