Man faces felony theft charge, accused of taking money from employer

CASPER, Wyo. — A Casper man was arrested and recommended for charges of Felony Theft, after it was alleged that he took over $1,000 from his employer.

33-year-old Shane Ray Perales was arrested on May 13, 2019, at his home, after being interviewed by police officers.

An affidavit filed in the case say that the Casper Police Department responded to a rent-to-own dealer on the 4000 block of Plaza Drive, during the morning hours Monday.

Employees at the store said that they had surveillance video showing one of the store’s employees taking approximately $1,180 dollars from the store’s deposit and from the store’s cash drawer.

The employee was identified as Perales. he was identified as working at the store and having a key that granted access to the deposits.

Officers say that they watched the security video and saw a man matching Perales’ description, taking money from the deposit and the drawer.

It was also reported that a store employee received messages from Perales via social media, claiming that he was in the hospital and had taken the money to buy medication.

Investigators contacted Perales at his Casper home, and report that the suspect admitted to taking money from the store and saying he had used the money to pay bills.

An affidavit filed in the case reports that Perales said that he intended to pay the money back.

The suspect was transported to the Natrona County Detention Center without further reported incident.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Natrona County District Attorney’s Office.
