Laramie man charged with Aggravated Burglary

CASPER, Wyo. — The Laramie Police Department says that they’ve arrested a 27-year-old Wyoming man on recommended charges including Aggravated Burglary, after at least one firearm was taken during a Laramie burglary.

On June 19, 2019 Laramie Police officers received a report of an open door at an apartment in the 1500 block of North 15th Street. The resident also reported that he had discovered items were missing from the apartment. 

While officers were conducting on-going follow up on August 5, 2019, it was discovered another burglary that had occurred in the 600 block of South Pine, approximately two-and-a-half miles away.

Laramie Police say that at least one firearm was taken during the incidents, leading to a recommended charge of Aggravated Burglary for the suspect. However police declined to comment on if multiple firearms were taken.

Police say that Andrew J May, a 27-year-old Laramie resident, was arrested in connection with the case. He has been recommended for charges of Aggravated Burglary, as well as two counts of Wrongful Taking or Disposing of Property, Theft, and False Statement to a Pawn Broker.

Bond has not yet been set in this matter and Mr. May remains incarcerated at the Albany County Detention Center. 

Police said that they could not release further information as of 12:00 pm, August 6, 2019.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.
