Casper man accused of strangling household member

CASPER, Wyo. —  A Casper man was arrested and is accused of placing a cohabitant of his home in a choke hold, reportedly blocking the person’s airway.

Nathaniel Lee Wunder, age 25, was booked into the Natrona County Detention Center on recommended charges of Domestic Battery and Strangulation of a Household Member.

Casper Police Department officials say that emergency dispatch received reports of a fight, on the 2900 block of Central Drive, in Casper, just after 8: 15 pm, November 23, 2019. Officers responded to the scene and say they made contact with the alleged victim in the case.

The accuser said that they were involved in an argument with Wunder, which became physical. During the incident, the accuser claimed that Wunder shoved and grabbed them, placing his arm around their neck and dragging them to the floor. It was then said that Wunder grabbed the accuser and dragged them.

During the altercation, the accuser said they attempted to use their phone to call a family member, but the phone was taken away, and the accuser was pushed into a bathroom. It was said that Wunder blocked the accuser’s exit and would not allow them to leave the room.

The accuser says that they were able to gather a juvenile resident of the home and flee outside.

An affidavit filed in the case says that Wunder spoke with police officers and reported fighting with the victim, trying to wrap his arms around them, and using a rear choke hold.

During the incident, the accuser claimed that it was difficult to breathe, but they did not lose consciousness.

Wunder was arrested and transported to the Natrona County Detention Center without further reported incident.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Natrona County District Attorney’s Office.
