CASPER, Wyo. — A suspect accused of sexually abusing a minor, who was identified as an employee of the Natrona County School District, made his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court today.
36-year-old Jason Waugaman, whose name was read in open court, was charged with two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 2nd Degree, and one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the 3rd Degree.
During the hearing, the suspect was given a bond amount of $10,000 cash or surety.

Marty Scott, an attorney representing Waugaman, noted that his client did not have any previous related criminal history, and said that the charges all stem from the same incident in 2016,.
On January 16th, 2020, the Casper Police Department said they arrested an adult male on one recommended felony charge of first degree Sexual Abuse of a Minor, and identified the suspect as an employee of the Natrona County School District.
At the time, police did not release the name of the suspect, drawing criticism on social media. Later that afternoon, the Casper Police Department clarified their position in a written statement.
“The Casper Police Department understands the concerns and frustrations of its citizens, especially those who may have children in the local school district,” Casper PD said, Thursday afternoon. “However, Wyoming Statute 6-2-319 prohibits us from currently releasing the identity of the suspect, or from releasing enough specific information that the suspect’s identity would be apparent, until such time as the charges are filed in the District Court.”
Details surrounding the allegations have not been released.
