CASPER, Wyo. — Two Casper Police Officers were reportedly injured while working a traffic stop in Casper Thursday night.
According to a statement from the Casper PD, shortly before 10:00 pm the officers were conducting a stop near the overpass bridge, on Yellowstone Highway. Officers were in the vehicle when a suspected impaired driver crashed into the patrol vehicle at an estimated speed of 40 mph.
“Officers immediately ensured the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved. All six individuals occupying the three vehicles were treated at the hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” the Casper PD statement said.
Because this crash involved a Casper Police vehicle, the Wyoming Highway Patrol and Natrona County Sheriff’s Office took over the scene.
“This ALL could have been avoided,” Casper PD said. “Please, never drink and drive. Never drive impaired. Always move over for stopped or emergency vehicles. Pay attention to road conditions and drive accordingly.”
