CASPER, Wyo. — Two men were arrested and transported to jail after a search of their vehicle, hotel room, and persons was reported to yield suspected cocaine and marijuana as well as various items identified as drug paraphernalia
Dewayne Burton and Jermaine Palato were arrested during the night of January 4, 2020.
Palato was recommended for felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Deliver, and a felony warrant.

Burton was recommended for felony charges of Possession of a Controlled substance and Possession with Intent to Deliver. He was also recommended for misdemeanor traffic violations.
A Casper Police Department spokesperson says that officers responded to the 4400 block of East 2nd Street, January 4 around 10:00 pm, after reports were received of a vehicle driving recklessly in the area.
“Officers received information that a vehicle reportedly tried to run another vehicle off the road,” Department spokesperson Rebekah Ladd told Oil City via email Wednesday morning. “Shortly after this first call, officers received additional information that someone had seen a someone assault another person, then get into the back of a vehicle, matching the same description from the first report.”
Ladd says that officers stopped a vehicle matching the suspect description and made contact with the driver, identified as Burton, and a passenger, identified as Palato
Officers reported the odor of marijuana during the contact.
Upon a search of Burton’s person, officers found two small bags with a white powder substance in them that Burton is said to have identified as cocaine.
Officers confirmed that Palato had an active warrant, and report finding marijuana upon searching his person.
A subsequent search of the vehicle is said to have yeilded several drug paraphernalia items.
Both suspects were transported to the Natrona County Detention Center, where police say additional illegal substances were found on each suspect upon a further search of their person.
“Officers also responded to two hotel rooms in which the suspects were determined to be staying,” Ladd said Tuesday morning. “Officers obtained search warrants for these hotel rooms and located several additional drug paraphernalia items.”
Ultimately, officers reported locating approximately 9.34 grams of cocaine, and 20.03 grams of marijuana.
Police say that both Palato and Burton have multiple criminal convictions for possession of controlled substances, making them eligible for a felony enhancement regarding drug possession charges.
All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Natrona County District Attorney’s Office.
