A spokesperson for the Casper PD says that a neighbor called police to report that their neighbors were fighting, upon arrival officers located an adult outside of the residence. The person reportedly had obvious signs of being physically assaulted.
Officers attempted to make contact with the person’s partner, who was inside the residence.
“When the male suspect inside saw officers he opened the door, then closed the door on officers, refusing to exit,” a Casper Police statement said Wednesday. “Several detectives and officers accompanied the victim to the hospital to receive medical treatment. The victim told officers that her partner had severely physically assaulted her while she was in the shower. The male suspect also made threats to the victim using a firearm and other weapons.”
Officers say they observed injuries on the victim consistent with her account.
Casper PD says they continued to issue commands to the male suspect to exit the home.
“Due to the non-compliance of the suspect and the severity of the crime, the Natrona County Special Response Team was activated to further ensure a peaceful and safe outcome of this event. Ultimately, after negotiating for three hours, SRT made entry into the home where the suspect peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody,” Casper PD says.
