CASPER, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management Wyoming says that the Casper Field Office is closing the Sand Hills area northeast of Torrington from Wednesday–Friday.
The closure comes after “multiple illegal trash dump sites” were located on public lands in the area. The BLM says that they will clean up the illegally dumped garbage.
“A BLM employee or law enforcement will be in the area and signs will be posted to inform the public of the temporary closure,” the BLM Wyoming says. “Additional closure days are possible the following week if needed to complete the effort.”

The BLM notes that illegal dumping can pose a threat to humans, wildlife, pets and vehicles.
“Observed or suspected illegal dumping violations can be reported at (307) 261-7600,” the BLM states. “Reports to the BLM should contain as much information as possible, such as the date, location and description of the incident (when, where, what and who you saw). Details should if possible, include GPS coordinates and road names or numbers. Photos and videos can be invaluable, especially when they depict the license plate or OHV permit.”
“For more information about the temporary closure, please contact Tom Berdan at (307) 261-7598.”
