CASPER, Wyo. — A man facing separate charges that he stole a motorcycle and that he pulled a gun on another individual has had the case bound over to District Court.

The Casper resident is facing charges of Aggravated Assault and Intimidating a Witness, after it was alleged that they pointed a gun at a victim’s head. Casper Police say that the 25-year-old suspect was taken into custody on August 3, 2021 and was charged in two separate cases.

In one case the suspect is accused of felony Theft after allegedly taking a motorcycle from a private driveway near South Lennox Street to an alleyway near Badger Lane in Casper. Officers recovered the motorcycle from the alley, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by the Casper Police Department.

The owner of the motorcycle told police that the bike had been taken from their driveway between 10:30 p.m. July 29 and 6:00 a.m. July 30, 2021. Police say that they recovered the motorcycle later that afternoon. Witnesses identified a male suspect that had been seen with a matching motorcycle in the area.

The suspect was identified as Garrett Lane Cestnik, 25, of Casper in Circuit Court documents.

As the investigation into the theft of the motorcycle continued, Casper PD says that their officers responded to a call at about noon on August 4, where a person had reported that they had been assaulted and had a gun pointed at them. The victim said that the suspect had knocked on the door and pushed the victim to the ground when the door was opened.

Police identified the victim in the case as a person who had been contacted by investigators on August 3 for an ongoing case, the nature of which was not immediately disclosed in the affidavit. The victim reportedly told officers that the suspect had seen the police in the area and was angry.

The suspect was known to the victim and was ultimately identified as Cestnik.

Cestnik is accused of pushing the victim to the ground and continually pushing them to keep them down. The victim the reported being put into a headlock before Cestnik allegedly pulled a handgun, pointing it at the victim’s face. The victim told police that Cestnik asked if they wanted to die, to which the victim began shouting, trying to get someone’s attention.

Cestnik is then accused of pushing the tip of the gun into the victim’s face before leaving the scene.

A Casper PD affidavit says that officers made contact with Cestnik in the downtown area, following the reported assault. He was taken into custody, arrested, and transported to the Natrona County Detention Center.

During a hearing on August 5, Cestnik was charged with felony Theft and was given a bond in that case of $5,000. In the second case, Cestnik was charged with felony Aggravated Assault and Intimidating a Witness. For those charges he was given a bond amount of $25,000.

All of those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. Charges are subject to change following official filings from the Natrona County District Attorney’s Office.

According to jail records, Cestnik remained in NCDC custody as of August 27.

His charges were bound over to Natrona County District Court last week. He is expected to be arraigned in the case at a later date.
