CASPER, Wyo. — Area law enforcement say that they are investigating the homicide of a Casper man that had previously been reported missing.
According to a release from the Casper Police Department, they and the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office have recovered the body of local resident Ryan Schroeder in rural Natrona County and are investigating his death as a homicide.
“The body, discovered in rural Natrona County, was located after a nearly two-month investigation into the disappearance of Schroeder,” a Casper Police statement said Thursday. “Schroeder was reported missing to the Casper Police Department on July 6, 2021. Immediately upon receiving the report, officers began interviewing multiple individuals known to Schroeder including those who had physically been with him in the days leading up to his disappearance.”

Officers were told Schroeder was planning to leave Casper for a trip to Denver around June 24, 2021.
Detectives do not believe this to be a random act and do not believe there is a threat to the public.
“The Casper Police Department Investigative Services Unit began an intensive investigation into this case, which led detectives to believe Schroeder may be deceased,” Casper PD officials say. “The investigation brought officers to a location in rural Natrona County and, with the help of the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, led them to recover a body. On September 1st, 2021, that body was identified as missing person, Ryan Schroeder.”
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Casper Police Department at 307-235-8278.
The investigation is ongoing at this time and Casper PD declined to release further information.
“The Casper Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Ryan Schroeder and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure justice is served,” Casper PD wrote Thursday.
