Cheyenne teen charged with attempted murder in stabbing investigation


CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A Cheyenne juvenile has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault and attempted second-degree murder for his suspected role in a May 5 stabbing.

Cheyenne police were dispatched to the Lamp Lounge at101 W. Sixth St. at around 11 p.m. for a report of an aggravated assault with a knife.

Police said they found an adult male victim at the scene with a stab wound. He was taken by ambulance to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where he is currently in critical condition.

As a result of their initial investigation, officers believe the suspect, a 17-year-old male, arrived at the Lamp Lounge in a dark-colored SUV. They believe he got into a verbal altercation with the adult before parking his vehicle. The suspect then followed the man into the bar, where he confronted and stabbed him with a knife before leaving the scene, police said.

Detectives found the suspect’s vehicle at 2 a.m. outside his residence, a police department news release states. After receiving verbal consent to enter the home, they found the suspect and took him into custody without further incident, police reported.

The suspect has been taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. Authorities did not release his identity.

This case remains under investigation by Cheyenne Police detectives.
