CASPER, Wyo. — On Friday morning, police officers took a juvenile suspect into custody in downtown Casper after the suspect was reported to have pointed a firearm at someone in the area, Casper Police Department Public Information Officer Rebekah Ladd said at around 9:15 a.m. Friday.
The suspect was taken into custody for questioning after officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of East 2nd Street. The street was temporarily blocked while officers conducted the traffic stop.
No injuries have been reported and there is no threat to the public, according to Ladd.
The suspect was subsequently released from custody after being detained by officers, Ladd confirmed at 10:38 a.m. Friday. On Monday, May 23, Ladd confirmed that the investigation did not uncover a firearm from inside the juvenile’s vehicle.
Clarification, May 23, 2022: Casper Police Department Public Information Officer Rebekah Ladd said Monday that a reporting party stated that the juvenile, a male, pointed at hand gun at him and almost ran him off the road.”Ultimately, the investigation did not uncover a firearm inside the vehicle,” Ladd said.
Correction, May 20, 2022: A previous version of this story said the juvenile was arrested. Casper Police Department Public Information Officer Rebekah Ladd’s initial statement said the suspect had been taken into custody, not that they were arrested. The suspect was not arrested and has been released from custody. This story has been updated to reflect this information.
