Converse County Sheriff: March 1 death in rural area does not appear to be homicide

State investigators are investigating the scene of a death in a rural area northwest of Douglas on 3/1/23 (Converse County Sheriff’s Office)

CASPER, Wyo. — The death of Ryan Green earlier this month in Converse County does not appear to be a homicide, the Converse County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Sheriff Clint Becker said rumors surrounding the circumstances of the death have been spreading since the body was discovered on a county road in a rural area around 12 miles northwest of Douglas on March 1.

Toxicology results are still pending, but the sheriff’s office said the investigation — the autopsy; scene processing by state investigators; interviews with family, witnesses and other persons; and cellphone data — led to a tentative conclusion that no foul play has occurred.

The case is still under investigation by the Wyoming State Crime Laboratory.
