CASPER, Wyo. — A suspect is in custody and one person was taken to the hospital Tuesday evening after a dispute in Evansville led to the discharge of a firearm, officials said.

Law enforcement remain on the scene collecting evidence as they conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, Evansville Police Chief Mike Thompson told Oil City News.

Natrona County Sheriff’s deputies, Casper police and state troopers assisted Evansville PD at the crime scene.

A neighbor told Oil City News on the scene that they had heard a single “pop” resembling gunfire around 7:30 p.m.

Assistant District Attorney Blaine Nelson was observed conferring with law enforcement on the scene.

No further details are available at this time.

“There is no active threat to the community and the scene is secure,” Chief Thompson said.
