CASPER, Wyo. — Interstate 25’s northbound lane was closed between Casper and Midwest on Saturday after a crash spilled about 30,000 pounds of limes onto the roadway, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The agency announced the closure at milepost 204 north of Casper around 6:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 21.

The road was fully cleared and reopened in the midnight hour.

WHP Sgt. Clint Christensen told Oil City News the commercial tractor-trailer’s three occupants were transported for non-life-threatening injuries after the single vehicle crash. Sgt. Christensen said the tractor first struck the guardrail and ended up in a ditch after detaching from the trailer. The trailer also struck the guardrail and became lodged, which overturned it and spilled the limes.

The crash investigation was transferred to the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Oil City News has reached out to the District 2 offices for more information.

Highway Patrol confirmed that the weight of the cargo was about 30,000 pounds, and the weight of the cargo and carrier was about 70,000 pounds
