CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper Police Department has released the dashcam footage from the patrol unit that pursued a suspect vehicle into downtown Casper last week. The suspect vehicle crashed, killing one and injuring three others to “varying degrees,” according to a CPD release.

Police said the vehicle had been identified from involvement in two separate shootings in residential areas two days earlier.

“This incident is currently under investigation by the Wyoming Highway Patrol with an associated investigation in ‘open’ status with the Casper Police Department,” a blurb posted along with the video states.

The dashcam from the patrol unit was shown to members of the press last Tuesday afternoon on the day of the early morning wreck.

“In my opinion this video conclusively shows the reasonable attempts of officers to resolve this safely, and the suspect exercising the choice to do something different,” Casper Police Chief Keith McPheeters said during the press conference.

The footage shows the event from the time the patrol unit identified the suspect vehicle in east Casper until the crash a short time later.

McPheeters explained at the time that the radio traffic had not yet been married to the video, and explained the coordinated stop attempt and deployment of stop sticks as the vehicle fled down East Second Street.

The crash itself is not captured. After the car speeds off into the distance, the officer then comes upon the scene.

The Casper Police Department released the video on its YouTube channel Thursday afternoon.
