Five Die, Including Casper Woman, in Auto Collision Near Baggs

The Wyoming Highway Patrol has identified five victims who died in a highway automobile collision near the community of Baggs, Wyoming. One of the deceased is from the Casper area.

According to a summary from the Wyoming Department of Transportation website; 44-year-old Heather White, 16-year-old Bruce White, 15-year-old Meagan White, and 12-year-old Scott White of Colorado and 28-year-old Katie O’Keefe of Casper were identified as dying as a result of the crash.

The crash occurred on June 16, 2017, at aproximately 2:50 pm, near milepost 28 of Wyoming Highway 789 in Carbon County. According to the reported narrative, a Nissan Armada drifted into the southbound lane of travel and struck a Chevrolet pickup, pulling an enclosed trailer.

The head-on collision resulted in both vehicles and the trailer to becoming fully engulfed in fire. Officials report that the Heather White, Bruce White, Meagan White, and Scott White were in the the Nissan Armada and died at the scene. O’Keefe was a passenger in the Chevrolet, also died at the scene. An unnamed driver of the Chevrolet was hospitalized.

Speed and Driver Inattention are being investigated as possible factors in the crash. Reported road and weather conditions at the time were “dry and clear.”
