Due to Natrona County currently approaching drought conditions and fire danger rising, the Natrona County Board of County Commissioners have issued partial fire closure restrictions for Natrona County.
The current partial ban prohibits the building of campfires or charcoal fires except fires used in industrial or agricultural operations and charcoal grills within the boundaries of any municipality.
The partial ban also prohibits the following:
1.) The use of tracer ammunition
2.) Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or while stopped in an area, of at least 3-feet in diameter, that is barren or cleared of all flammable material.
3.) Discharging and detonation of fireworks, explosives requiring fuses, or blasting caps are prohibited without an approved permit.
4.) Acetylene cutting torches or electric arc welding, except in areas devoid of all vegetation in a ten-foot area.
5.) Propane or open fire branding activities, except win corral areas in ranch complexes considered to be improved and cleared of all vegetation matter.
6.) Operation of chainsaws without a properly installed USDA or SAE approved spark arrestor and a5 lb. or larger dry chemical fire extinguisher, or adequate supply of water, and a shovel. The fire tools in these instances must be kept with the operator’s gas supply, but must be available in the immediate vicinity of chainsaw operations.
8.) Slash pile burning on Casper Mountain. Resident landowners on Casper Mountain with slash pile cleanup can take their slash to Tower Hill, which has been designated for receipt and disposal of slash.
