Police investigate gunfire on Burlington Ave

Casper police are investigating an incident on the 1200 block of Burlington Avenue in Casper. Police say that a handgun was brandished and fired.

Details are few at this time, but police records indicate that officers responded to a weapons incident at approximately 9:30 pm Sunday night.

Casper Police Sgt. Joey Wilhelm said the gun was fired “a couple of times” before officers arrived.

Wilhelm confirms an arrest has not been made in the case but the investigation remains ongoing.

It is unkownn if criminal charges will result from the incident.

Wilhelm says that at this time there is no threat to public health or safety.

Police surrounded the area well into the early morning hours but the scene was cleared by 8:00 am. Wilhelm said that he believed the Specialized Response Team was called out during the incident.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police have confirmed that Sunday night’s incident is unrelated to a shooting that occurred on the same block in Mid-March of 2018. A person was killed by gunfire in that incident, however criminal charges have not been filed. That incident also remains under investigation.
