CASPER, Wyo. — Staff members from a Natrona County School put out a grass fire that began burning near Midwest School’s playground on September 6, 2019; according to emergency officials.
An incident report filed with the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office says that on September 6, at approximately 1:00 pm, emergency dispatch received a call for a small grass fire near the playground of Midwest School.
According to Natrona County School District spokesperson, Tanya Southerland, the fire was noticed by kitchen staff members at Midwest school and the staff members were able to extinguish the blaze.

Crews from Salt Creek Fire, Casper Fire-EMS, and Rocky Mountain Power responded to the scene.
Sheriff’s Department officials say that investigations indicated that a transformer on a pole sparked and caused the grass fire.
Fire officials arrived on scene and took over observation.
The burn area was only 2 feet by 2 feet, adn was reportedly along a north fence line of the Midwest School playground.
Southerland says that due to the small size, distance from the school, and quick action by staff, students were not evacuated from the building during the incident.
Southerland also expressed gratitude for the first responders that came to the scene.
