Some residents were “sheltering in place” during the incident. The property in question was surrounded, as one subject took shelter inside a home.

Police said the subject was not a resident of the home.

A number of agencies responded to the scene, including Casper and Evansville police, the Wyoming Game and Fish, and the Wyoming Medical Center.

“At this point we’re working out how we’re going to handle this, try to get the person to come out,” said Evansville Police Department chief Mike Thompson earlier in the evening.

“Using the P.A., talking with them, at one point they were banging around the attic area and officers have seen movement in the living facilities.”

Just after 5 p.m. police say they took one subject into custody who was in the attic.

Police say the subject of the home made his way from the attic into the living area of the home. Shell casings were found in the home, which police say were from the shots fired earlier.

The investigation is ongoing and all evacuations have been lifted. The home is currently cleared and empty, according to police.
