Officials are saying that a Natrona County School was placed on a brief lockdown Wednesday. All staff and students are reported safe.

“Evansville Elementary went on a brief precautionary lockdown due to a report of a suspicious person within the proximity of the school grounds,” Natrona County School District #1 officials said in a written statement Wednesday afternoon. “Law enforcement has made contact with the individual and is actively investigating this report.”

Further details on the suspicious person and the investigation were not immediately released by NCSD #1.

“Students and staff are safe,” the statement continued.

The District says that law enforcement will have an increased presence in the area.

School operations are reportedly resuming as normal inside the building.
