CASPER, Wyo. — Cottonwood Elementary School is on a precautionary lockout due to law enforcement activity in the surrounding neighborhood, the Natrona County School District said at 2:03 p.m. Wednesday.

“There is no safety concern to students or staff; normal operations are occurring within the building,” NCSD said.

NCSD added that Dean Morgan Junior High families should avoid the area around Albertson’s in the 15th Street and Westridge area due to the law enforcement activity.

“If your DMJH student would normally walk into that area after school, please either try to make arrangements to pick them up, or ask them to avoid the area of Albertson’s/15th and Westridge Area,” NCSD said. “Please call DMJH with questions.”

NCSD said it would provide updates when the lockout at Cottonwood is lifted.

Oil City News has requested information from the Casper PD regarding activity in the area. Updates will be provided if more information becomes available.
