CASPER, Wyo. — Cody Avenue was closed down this afternoon, with several residents being evacuated from their homes, as emergency personnel responded to suspicious packages as part of an inactive Casper Police Department investigation.

Casper Fire-EMS firefighters were dispatched to the scene on the 1700 block of Cody Avenue to assist the police just after 2:30 p.m. Firefighters and hazardous materials technicians were joined by the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office and Casper Police Department bomb technicians in efforts to identify the contents of the packages.

Ultimately, first responders determined that the packages did not contain hazardous materials or other forms of danger to responders or the public.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident, and no arrests have been made by the Casper Police Department. Casper Fire-EMS Public Information Officer Dane Andersen said additional details surrounding the initial call for police and the circumstances surrounding the ongoing investigation will be released by the Casper Police Department when they become available.
