CASPER, Wyo. — A Casper man is dead after a snowmobiling accident in Teton County on Sunday.
According to Teton County Search and Rescue, the agency received a call at around 2:45 p.m. for a snowmobiler who had been trapped in deep snow under his machine.
The report says the 42-year-old man was with a riding partner when they lost sight of each other on Togwotee Pass near the X Trail.
The riding partner eventually located the Casper man, who was pinned under his machine in the snow. The partner sent out an SOS alert on a satellite device, the report said.
The agency responded with snowmobiles and a helicopter, along with Teton County Sheriff deputies and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS.
The patient was determined to be deceased on scene, and the cause of the accident was listed as not avalanche-related, said the report.
“TCSAR extends its sincere condolences to the man’s family and friends, and wishes to thank the cooperating agencies for the response,” they said.
