CASPER, Wyo. — One person is dead and three are injured after a police chase that ended in downtown Casper early Tuesday.
According to a release from the Casper Police Department, officers identified a vehicle “matching the description from an ongoing … investigation.” The vehicle drove away when officers attempted a stop at Beverly and 2nd.
Additional officers were called to lay traffic spikes. The release said the vehicle headed west on East 2nd and collided with a concrete planter before losing control. The car then came to a rest after rolling on the corner of 2nd and Wolcott.
Three people were taken to Banner Wyoming Medical Center, and one was pronounced dead at the scene. Identifications are pending family notification, said the release, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police were still on scene after sunrise on Tuesday. Debris was strewn along 2nd Street between Durbin and Wolcott, and two concrete planters on each corner were visibly damaged. The street was blocked to traffic between Center and Durbin as of 6 a.m.
